HOW DO WE ACHIEVE ~LOW MAINTENANCE~ AT THE SAME TIME AS 'GORGEOUS' IN BACKYARD TERMS:

​

  • Weed Barriers used under beds helps us keep weeds to a minimum.

  • Mulch or Crushed Stone also keeps weeding and watering to a minimum, and can have beds looking nice with minimal plant life well spaced. One can even add a pop of colour with mulch or rocks of a distinct blend.

  • Using Native Plants from the area can also allow for less watering and less maintenance to your yard. These plants are less fragile and hardier, therefore, empowering one to be able to travel more often or just sit back and enjoy the beauty of them.

  • Using plants for edging, as opposed to plastic or paver stones borders, can allow for more growth each year without maintenance and can also be a unique & interesting feature to your backyard or property. It can also be great for disguising foundations. 

  • Planting low-maintenance trees that shed less can also be wonderful for keeping your backyard tidy with very little work. 

  • Ground covers like gravel or astroturf in large areas can be helpful in avoiding mowing altogether but can still make for nice spaces to sprawl out and enjoy life a little more.

  • Gravel areas can make for great spaces for portable propane fires which you can take camping but can also use in your backyard at home on the regular.  These have become very popular over the years and can be used during a fire ban. Simple iron or metal portable fire pits can also go well in these areas and are less expensive but still look exceptional plus are so much fun. 

  • Rubber Mulch has also been a new & much-loved item for fun spaces for children with again... avoiding the mowing. 

  • Lastly, gravel areas can be wonderful for dog runs in the backyard and minimizing the muck a dog brings into the home in spring or winter. Plus the gravel is easy to hose down. 

  • Non-fussy flowers make for great ground cover and zone suitable perennials help the beauty of your backyard to grow further, year after year.

  • Rain Barrels can be added, to lower the cost of watering 

  • Raised Garden Beds can be made for growing yummy food throughout the summer and early fall, and these beds can be surrounded by mulch or gravel pathways in between for easy gardening.
